The Keys to
Success Young Adult Program (YAP) is a partnership between King County
MHCADSD and Therapeutic Health Services - CYFS Branch, funded by a grant
from the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) to provide a
comprehensive drug and alcohol treatment program which is designed
specifically for young adults, ages 18-24.
The goal of the Keys
to Success program is to provide young adults with the necessary support,
skills and resources to transition to a healthy lifestyle without the use of
drugs and alcohol. The program is designed to meet the developmental needs
of young adults, ages 18-24, and involves the use of existing community
resources that support positive change in order to develop a positive
support system within the participants' social networks and natural/family
supports.
Individual counseling is provided in a context-specific
method that focuses on the interaction between young adults and those in
their environment. We are focused on building on participants' strengths,
engaging them (and their support systems) as partners in the delivery of
services, and supporting their successful transition to adulthood.
Additional program components include communication and problem solving
skills, relapse prevention, job skills training, anger management, and case
management.
